探索“聪明”这回事,不是对极少数高智商的人有意义的事,可以对整个人群都很有意义。毕竟思考极端情形,有时候反而可以更好的呈现概念,看清它的发展和影响[注1]。前段时间翻出了刚开始读博时不务正业的几个读书笔记,当时从图书馆随机抽取了一本书Handbook
of Giftedness in Children,完全没有看论文看作者只因标题有趣就借了……当时的摘录(如下)也很随性,如觉得不够清晰,可以去看这本书的电子版[注2]
Chapter 2: history of giftedness
better psychosocial adjustment?
Terman:Yes
Other possibilities and evidence:
1) mismatch with peers and courses
2) when facing failure (fail to solve extreme difficult
problems), greater irrational belief and self-oriented
perfectionism, more physiological stress
They endorse more internal motivation, in academic
performance. Some scholars think motivation itself is a gift, and
it is different from intrinsic motivation.

Chapter 11: clinical practices with gifted
families
family dynamics:
• 2nd child see to be normal outside, but is gifted inside.
(parents unwilling to give them tests unless with big
discount.)
• perfectionism may blend with their desire for beauty and
order. 214 The complexity of gifted minds is mirrored in the
complexity of their emotions.
• perfectionism can be used as a positive or negative
energy.
• what’s common: increased sensitivity, argumentativeness.
argument is a way of knowing and a form of mental exercise engaged
by inquisitive mind.
• family meeting: a place that build family solidarity,
self-esteem, boundary setting.
• Learn “fair” is a reciprocal concept.
Chapter 12: creativity
conceptual change: it is not to be increased but to be
encouraged.
It’s hard to clarify its relationship with intelligence (who
is whose subset, unsure).
Chapter 17: helping gifted and talented adolescents and
young adults
• gender difference in career choice.
• role model for girl program doesn’t quite work in the
long-term for girls in career choice. Maybe the role model thing
has to be longer than a summer.
• perfectionism may lead them to procrastination.
• multi potentiality is a mixed blessing.
• Given the often assumed gender differences that men are
rational and women are intuitive, valuing rationality over
intuition may encourage girls to perceive themselves as innately
less effective decision makers.
• problem to be addressed: limited integration of career
development in school enrichment program.
