The family tussle for control of Stanley Ho’s casino empire took another bizarre twist as his lawyer uploaded rare interviews with the 89-year-old tycoon to YouTube, the video site.

In the videos, recorded last week, the ailing billionaire accused his relatives of “something like robbery” and said he would fight to reverse the controversial transfer of his casino empire to his third wife and the five children from his second wife.

The videos went online as Mr Ho was admitted to hospital for a “routine procedure” to change a tube in his throat that helps him breathe, said Gordon Oldham, Mr Ho’s lawyer.

Mr Ho, who has three surviving wives and 16 children, has rarely appeared in public since 2009, when he had a clot removed from his brain after a fall.

In one clip, recorded in the dining room of Mr Ho’s Hong Kong mansion on Sunday morning, Mr Ho explained why he unexpectedly abandoned legal action against his third wife and the five children over the weekend.

“When they say they are willing to surrender all the shares back to me and asked me not to sue them, I agreed. I said all right, I’ll give everyone a chance and we call it a misunderstanding, so we can start afresh,” Mr Ho said.

But in spite of the alleged promise and a series of secret family meetings to hammer out a compromise, the shares have not been returned to Mr Ho.

The posting of the YouTube clips is the latest in a series of moves and countermoves in the squabble for control of one of Asia’s biggest fortunes.
