这是英语风采大赛复赛的演讲稿子。我选择书的时候，想到既要知道英文的故事，又要读过完整的中文版，就选了马克吐温的《汤姆索亚历险记》。

My favorite book is “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, it is written by Mark Twain. Mark Twain is actually the penname of Samuel Clemens who died 100 years ago. He wrote in his will that his autobiography could only be published 100 years after he died.

His most famous book is my favorite book:“The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. This book is my favorite because the story follows Tom through many wild adventures. Although it is a fiction, Mark Twain writes so realistically that the readers feel it’s real.

The story is full of mystery: Tom is a witness to a murder and he works with his friend Huck to bring justice. Therefore the book is also about a very deep friendship. Both friends have difficult family lives and they rely on each other for help.

“The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” taught me I must have courage to do what is right, and sometimes you find that courage and strength in friends. For this reason, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” is my favorite book and I’m excited to read Mark Twain’s autobiography to learn about his own friends and his own adventures.
