resilient and patriotic Americans you’ll ever meet’ [video]
When President Obama spoke at an Islamic center in Baltimore on February 3, his
message couldn’t have been more clear: “Muslim Americans are some of the most resilient and
patriotic Americans you’ll ever meet,” he said. His words have
been widely praised on social media.
The president recognized the Muslim Americans
in attendance, members of Congress and members of the U.S. armed
forces among them, but addressed millions of Muslim Americans and
their non-Muslim neighbors. “Muslim Americans enrich our lives
today in every way,” said the president. “They’re our neighbors,”
he added, pointing to the many contributions made by Muslim
citizens — as teachers, doctors and scientists, as police,
firefighters and soldiers — who “keep us strong
and united as one American family.”
In America, Obama said, “an attack on one faith is an attack on
all our faiths.”
