U.S. and international partners continue Nepal earthquake relief efforts
Nepal remains in urgent need of assistance after powerful earthquakes rocked the country on April 25 and again on May 12.
More than 8,600 people have died, roughly 17,000 have been injured, and more than 750,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged as a result of the quakes and aftershocks, according to recent estimates from the Nepalese government.
In response to the crisis, the United States, in coordination
with the government of Nepal and international relief groups, is
providing much-needed help to affected people in urban and rural
areas. The

As of May 15, the U.S. government has provided over $34 million for earthquake response and recovery efforts in Nepal. Much of this funding supports water and hygiene needs, humanitarian coordination, logistics and the distribution of relief commodities.
