美国室内曲棍球队员1月28日在首尔龙山美军基地亮相后相互鼓劲。
韩国龙山美军基地——美国军事人员向前来参加2013年韩国冬季特殊奥运会（Winter Special Olympic Games）的美国代表团表示欢迎。
在1月28日于首尔（Seoul）美军总部驻地举行的欢迎仪式上，美国军队、文职雇员和家属热情迎接了来韩国参加冬季特奥会的152名美国运动员。
联合国部队司令部（United Nations Command）、联合部队司令部（Combined Forces Command）和驻韩美军（U.S. Forces Korea）司令、美国陆军上将詹姆斯·瑟曼（James D. Thurman）说：“这是一次绝佳的机会，彰显了前来参加冬季特奥会比赛的是一群了不起的、杰出的美国运动员。”
与瑟曼一起出席欢迎仪式的有第八军司令约翰·约翰逊（John D. Johnson）中将、第八军行动副司令沃尔特·戈登（Walter M. Golden）少将以及许多其他高级别军事和文职官员。
本届冬季特奥会在即将到来的2018年冬季奥运会（2018 Winter Olympics）的举办地、韩国山峦起伏的江原道（Gangwon Province）的平昌（Pyeongchang）和江陵（Pyeongchang）举行。来自115个国家和地区的3000名运动员将参加七个主要项目的比赛，包括高山滑雪、越野滑雪、单板滑雪、雪鞋健行、速度滑冰、花样滑冰和室内曲棍球。
在欢迎仪式上，瑟曼对韩国盟友主办本次冬季特奥会表示感谢，认为这表明了韩国对发挥“全球领导作用”的承诺。
瑟曼代表驻韩的所有美军人员为美国代表团鼓劲助威。这位四星上将还鼓励运动员发挥最高水平，并赞扬了他们代表美国出征国际赛场的决心。

U.S. Troops Welcome Special Olympians to Korea

Yongsan Garrison, Republic of Korea — American military personnel welcomed Team USA to the 2013 Winter Special Olympic Games in Korea.
At a ceremony January 28 at the U.S. military headquarters post in Seoul, U.S. troops, civilian employees and family members cheered on the 152 American athletes who came to the Republic of Korea to compete in the Winter Games.
“This is a great opportunity,” said U.S. Army General James D. Thurman, commander of United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea. “It recognizes a great and outstanding group of Americans who are here to compete in the Winter Special Olympics.”
Thurman was joined by Eighth Army Commanding General Lieutenant General John D. Johnson, Eighth Army Deputy Commanding General for Operations Major General Walter M. Golden and many other senior military and civilian officials.
The Winter Special Olympics Games are being held in Pyeongchang and Gangneung in the country’s mountainous Gangwon Province, the site of the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics. Three thousand athletes from 115 countries will participate in seven major events, including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, speed skating, figure skating and floor hockey.
During the welcoming ceremony, Thurman thanked his South Korean allies for hosting the Winter Special Olympic Games, saying it demonstrated Korea’s commitment to “global leadership.”
On behalf of all American service members stationed in Korea, Thurman cheered on Team USA. The four-star general also encouraged the athletes to do their best and lauded their commitment to representing the United States on the global stage.
“You’re already true champions,” said Thurman. “We’re mighty proud of you.”
