来自纽约州伊萨卡的泰·赫姆萨斯将赴韩国参加世界冬季特殊奥运会。这位雪鞋健行项目的优秀选手将代表美国重返自己的出生地参加比赛。
雪鞋健行选手泰·赫姆萨斯（Tae Hemsath）是参加1月29日至2月5日在韩国举行的2013年第10届世界冬季特殊奥运会（10th World Winter Games）的美国特奥会代表团成员之一。
赫姆萨斯出生在本届特殊奥运会的主办城市韩国平昌（Pyeongchang），幼年时期即受到霍尔特国际领养计划（Holt International Adoption Program）的照护。本次赛事将使她第一次回到自己的出生地。
赫姆萨斯说：“我希望回到自己出生的国家，但要作为美国队的一员参加比赛。”
赫姆萨斯现年37岁，已有20年以上参加特殊奥运会的经验。今年，她将在冬季特殊奥运会的雪鞋健行项目上一展身手，不仅如此，她还参加特奥会的保龄球、篮球、足球和田径项目。
赫姆萨斯在忙于参加全年都有的体育赛事之外，还要兼顾她在默里中心（Murray Center）的工作，这家位于纽约州伊萨卡城（Ithaca，New York）的商业服务组织为有发育障碍的成年人提供工作机会。

Snowshoes Return Athlete to Land of Birth

Tae Hemsath from Ithaca, New York, will participate in the Special Olympics World Winter Games in the Republic of Korea. This champion on snowshoes will be returning to the land of her birth as an American competitor.
Snowshoe racer Tae Hemsath is a member of the 2013 U.S. Special Olympics Team participating in the 10th World Winter Games in the Republic of Korea January 29–February 5.
Hemsath was born in Pyeongchang, the host of this year's event, and went into the care of the Holt International Adoption Program at a young age. The competition will take her back to her birthplace for the first time.
“I want to return to the country where I was born, but to compete as a member of Team USA," she said.
Hemsath is 37 years old and has been participating in Special Olympics for more than 20 years. Snowshoeing takes her to the Winter Games this year, but she also participates in Special Olympics bowling, basketball, soccer and track and field.
Hemsath stays busy with her year-round sports schedule and her job at the Murray Center, a business services organization in Ithaca, New York, that provides opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
