速滑运动员将在韩国世界冬季特殊奥运会上感受赛场上激动人心的时刻。

世界冬季特殊奥运会（Special Olympics World Winter Games）定于1月29日至2月5日在韩国平昌（Pyeongchang）举行，届时先天失聪的速滑运动员詹奈·肯尼迪（Jannai Kennedy）将凭感觉去体验现场观众发出的热烈喝彩。

肯尼迪从小就被沃尔特·迪斯尼（Walt Disney）的电影《冰上公主》（Ice Princess）中的主人公深深吸引，该片讲述了一名立志在花样滑冰比赛中夺冠的敢于梦想的少女的故事。不过，速滑运动更让肯尼迪兴奋不已。

这名来自弗吉尼亚州（Virginia）的少女将与110个国家和地区的近2,400名运动员同场竞技，参加由全世界规模最大的智障人士体育组织——特殊奥运会（Special Olympics）——主办的最重要的赛事之一。速滑名将丹·扬森（Dan Jansen）和阿波罗·欧诺（Apolo Ohno）等许多世界知名的主流运动员都将受邀出席这次盛会。

肯尼迪说：“特奥会改变了我的人生。我终于实现了梦寐以求的目标。这次韩国之行无论我最终获胜还是失败，在家人眼中，我都是冠军。”

A speed skater will feel the thrill of competing in the Special Olympics World Winter Games in the Republic of Korea.

Born deaf, speed skater Jannai Kennedy only will feel the cheers of support from the crowds that will see her compete at the Special Olympics World Winter Games to be hosted by the Republic of Korea January 29 through February 5 in the city of Pyeongchang.

As a little girl, Kennedy was captivated by the main character in Walt Disney's “Ice Princess,” the story of a girl who dared to dream big in the world of competitive figure skating. But speed skating thrilled Kennedy more.

Now the teenager from Virginia will find herself with some 2,400 athletes from 110 countries in one of the most important sports events hosted by Special Olympics, the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities. Guests at these games will include many world-renowned mainstream athletes, such as speed skating greats Dan Jansen and Apolo Ohno.

"Special Olympics has changed my life,” Kennedy says. “I have finally accomplished a wonderful goal. And no matter if I win or lose in Korea, in the end, I'll still be a champion to my family."
