This touching film centers on Jamal, an inner-city student whose top test scores and excellent basketball skills gain his admission to an elite private high school, where he feels out of place.  He meets a famous and reclusive writer, William Forrester, who becomes his mentor and discovers Jamal’s talent for writing.  Forrester also opens up to the world and overcomes his reclusiveness through this friendship.
