索马里出生、代表英国参赛的法拉和美国运动员鲁普在俄勒冈州接受同一位教练员的训练并分获伦敦奥运会万米赛跑金、银牌。
近18个月来，莫·法拉（Mo Farah）和盖伦·鲁普（Galen
Rupp）在俄勒冈州波特兰市（Portland）一块儿训练，一块儿吃饭，一起生活。两个长跑运动员并肩接受教练阿尔贝托·萨拉萨尔（Alberto
Salazar）的训练，为2012年伦敦奥运会尽力发挥他们的极限。
法拉出生在索马里，他代表英国参加比赛；鲁普出生在美国俄勒冈州，他代表美国参加赛跑，两人将展开对彼此与历史的竞争。英国从来没有在长度超过1500米的任何比赛中赢得金牌。美国的赛跑选手在近50年内从未在10000米比赛中赢得一枚奖牌。
当比赛日来临时，法拉和鲁普一直处于胶着状态，保持到冲刺阶段。鲁普无法赶上他的朋友和训练伙伴。法拉最后赢得金牌，而鲁普摘了银牌。

Farah and Rupp Win Together

Two runners from different countries who trained together, lived together and won together.
For the last 18 months, Mo Farah and Galen Rupp trained together in Portland, Oregon, ate meals together and lived together. Side by side, the two distance runners worked with coach Alberto Salazar, pushing themselves to their limits in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics.
Farah, born in Somalia and competing for Great Britain, and Rupp, born in Oregon and running for the United States, would be competing against each other and history. Great Britain had never won gold in any race longer than 1,500 meters. No U.S. runner had won a medal in the 10,000-meter race in almost 50 years.
When race day came, Farah and Rupp stayed close together straight through to the homestretch, where Rupp couldn’t quite catch his friend and training partner, who finished to win the gold. Rupp took the silver.
"It was the best thing," Farah (above with Rupp at the end of the race) told USA Today. "I'd won the race, but to have my training partner second to me … we do everything together."
