5月8日，美国国会亚太裔核心小组在国会山庆祝一年一度的传统月。
20年前，五月被定为美国亚太裔传统月（Asian Pacific American Heritage Month）。
5月8日，美国国会亚太裔核心小组（Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus）在国会山举行仪式，庆祝一年一度的传统月。
来自夏威夷的参议员李硕（Daniel Akaka）指出，亚太裔美国人是 “美国国家民族特征的重要组成部分”。他说：“在全国性问题上听得到我们的声音。”李硕还说，美国全国各地均有亚太裔担任领导职务，包括欧巴马总统的三名内阁成员。
成立于1994年的国会亚太裔核心小组致力于保证国会所通过的法案关注亚太裔社区问题。核心小组成员包括两党和国会两院的41位议员，现任主席是来自加利福尼亚州的众议员赵美心（Judy Chu）。在上图中，赵美心（最右）、来自弗吉尼亚州的众议员博比•斯科特（Bobby Scott）[最左]和来自夏威夷的众议员广野庆子（Mazie Hirono）[中]与欧巴马总统在一起。

The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus celebrates its members' heritage with a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol May 8.
May was designated as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 20 years ago.
The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus celebrated the anniversary May 8 with a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol.
Calling Asian Pacific Americans “a vital part of America’s national identity,” Senator Daniel Akaka of Hawaii said, “Our voices are heard on national issues.” Asian Pacific Americans hold leadership positions across the country, including three positions in President Obama's Cabinet, according to Akaka.
The caucus, founded in 1994, strives to ensure that legislation passed by Congress addresses the concerns of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. It has 41 members from both parties and both houses of the U.S. Congress. It is chaired by Representative Judy Chu of California.
