美国童子军为青少年提供各种项目，帮助他们成长为有责任感的人。
美国童子军(The Boy Scouts of America)于2010年庆祝创立100周年。这个组织为青少年提供各种项目，旨在帮助他们成长为有责任感的人。
去年，有超过270多万青少年童子军队员和110多万志愿者提供了2800多万个小时的服务，服务内容包括收集与分发食品、清扫垃圾与美化社区以及保护环境等 等。此外，还有各种各样基于成员在童子军内部活动的成绩而进行的锻炼培养与探险项目。
童子军活动向各不同年龄段的青少年开放。 7至10岁的男孩可成为幼童军队员（Cub Scouts），11至18岁的男孩可以成为男童子军队员。
曾经当过童子军队员、成年后事业有成的人包括：微软公司创始人比尔·盖茨（Bill Gates）；约翰·肯尼迪（John F. Kennedy）总统——他是美国第一位当过童子军队员的总统；奥运速滑金牌得主丹·扬森（Dan Jansen）。

The Boy Scouts of America commit themselves to millions of hours of helping others.
The Boy Scouts of America, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010, provides programs designed to help young people develop into responsible adults.
Last year more than 2.7 million youth members and more than 1.1 million volunteers provided more than 28 million service hours on projects such as food collection and distribution, litter cleanup and community beautification, and conservation projects. In addition, there are a variety of development and adventure programs based on achievement within the scouting movement.
Scouting is open to a variety of age groups. Boys 7 to 10 years old can be Cub Scouts; boys 11 to 18 years old can be Boy Scouts.
Among former Boy Scouts who became famous as adults are Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft Corporation; John F. Kennedy, the first U.S. president to have been a Boy Scout; and Dan Jansen, Olympic gold medalist in speed skating.
