华盛顿州州长克里斯∙格雷瓜尔于2011年10月19日在中国大饭店启动美中省州长对话,她欢迎增加双边贸易、旅游、投资、以及教育文化交流,“为两国奠定伟大基础。”
格雷瓜尔州长把其故乡华盛顿州称之为美国“太平洋贸易的门户”,她指出到达美国的第一艘中国贸易船舶停靠在了西雅图。格雷瓜尔州长自豪地把华盛顿州称为波音、微软、和星巴克这样的国际公司的大本营。

夏威夷州长尼尔•阿伯克龙比称酒店业为中国和美国“扩大就业和扩大商务的新前沿”,期待在两国对年轻人进行旅游相关工作培训的前景。
夏威夷州长尼尔•阿伯克龙比援引“Aloha”精神,将他的家乡称为“亚太地区的锚”。
“如果你用aloha这个词 – (它表示)友好、开放、善良、欢迎的态度,这在中国很容易理解。中国和夏威夷间的关系十分强大。”
“在这个拥有亚洲和太平洋各种文化、民族、种族的巨大新月形地带,不论你在哪个地方......我们有机会用我们的多样性在21世纪定义我们自己,而不是分裂自己。”
Opening the U.S.-China Governor's Dialogue at the China World Hotel on October 19, 2011, Governor Chris Gregoire of Washington welcomed increased bilateral trade, tourism, investment, and educational and cultural exchange to "lay a foundation of greatness for both countries." Calling her home state of Washington the U.S. "gateway of trade to the Pacific,"
Governor Gregoire noted that the first Chinese trading ship to the United States docked in Seattle. The governor spoke proudly of her state as the home base of such international companies as Boeing, Microsoft, and Starbucks.
Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie referred to the hospitality industry as a "new frontier in job expansion and business expansion" for China and the U.S., and looked forward to the prospect of tourism-related job training for young people in both countries.
Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie invoked the "Ahola" spirit, calling his home state an "anchor to the Asia Pacific region.”
“If you take the word aloha - kindness, openness, goodness, welcoming attitude, this is easily understood in china. The relationship between China and Hawaii is very strong," said Abercrombie. "No matter where you are in this great crescent of cultures and nationalities, ethnicities in Asia and the Pacific... we have the opportunity to have our diversity define us in the 21st century, rather than divide us."
