《人间、地狱和天堂之歌》第5卷《后朋克·恶之花》,扉页语这么写:

这一卷的校稿,进展得艰难。部分原作没有达到优秀诗歌的水准,想在译成中文时能把它拾掇得像样,如同在沙地上建城堡。有一些文字应该算是邪恶的吧,在气质上,我们原本有距离。想凭几句咒语就让自己也一时拥有邪恶的魂,不容易。麻瓜就是麻瓜,魔法就是魔法。

既然有些词作有问题,为什么又让它们入选呢?原因在于,它们的音乐,实在是强大;还有,这强大音乐下的词作,实在是让我震惊,虽然冷静下来端详,可能是有佳句、而非佳篇。不过,就像是扉页语所形容的,其中各方面都不弱的词,尖利,凄厉,可能是这部书里收录的最具个性的篇什,强大到毁灭。
譬如佩蒂·史密斯,下面是她的《鸟国》:
