【语法归纳】

1. 当形容词修饰由some-、any-、no-、every-加body、one、thing等构成的复合不定代词时，形

容词须后置。

101.Joey: There's gotta be something wrong with him!

101.Paul: Well, you might try 'accidentally' breaking something valuable of hers, say her-

103.Ross: You know, there's nothing wrong with speaking correctly.

3. 名词复数

词pair、suit。

4. more…than...：比较级，前者比后者更...

5. Like作连词位于句首，句子虽是肯定形式但表示否定意义，并且带有明显的讽刺语气。

1. Rachel: Oh God. Well, it started about a half hour before the wedding. I was in this room where

 we were keeping all the presents. And I was looking at this gravy boat. This really gorgeous

 Limoges gravy boat. 

著名瓷乡利摩日(Limoges)位于法国中西部，18世纪以来成为法国陶瓷器精品制造中心。今天的利

摩日，依然以从中世纪保留下来的高级精致白瓷和珐琅的技艺而闻名欧洲，相当于中国的景德镇。

Gravy boat是盛调味肉汁或酱汁的船形器皿。

2. Rachel: When all of a sudden, I realized- [to the waitress that brought her coffee] Sweet'n

 Low?

低脂糖(Sweet'n Low)是著名的代糖品牌，1957年发明并推入市场。普通蔗糖过于甜腻，卡路里太

高，所以用甜蜜素代替。

 

 

3. Rachel: And that's when it hit me: How much Barry looks like Mr. Potato Head.

 

薯头先生(Mr. Potato Head)是美国家喻户晓的变装玩具，1952年由玩具制造公司孩之宝(Hasbro)

出产。那时的薯头先生只有眼睛、嘴巴和耳朵，小孩子要玩的话，还需要一颗真土豆才能变成薯

头先生。这样一来薯头先生就不那么名副其实了，如果把五官插在萝卜身上不就变成了萝卜先生？

所以后来玩具公司又加进了一个塑料身子，就变成了现在看到的样子。时至今日，薯头先生已经

有了几十种五官配件，还有了薯头太太(Mrs.Potato Head)。

(1) 金枪鱼沙拉(tuna salad)主要是由金枪鱼和蛋黄酱组成，然后加入切碎的煮鸡蛋、芹菜、洋葱

6. Chandler: Ross, you gotta understand, between us, we haven't had a relationship that has

(3) 什锦糖条(jimmies)，又叫sprinkles。常用来撒在冰淇淋或糕点上，五颜六色地作装饰用。

西式煎蛋卷(Western omelet)又叫三丁煎蛋饼，拌有青椒、洋葱和火腿丁的煎蛋饼。

阿米什(Amish)是基督新教-再洗礼派-门诺会的一个分支，17世纪从主教中分离出来。阿米什人

的祖先是瑞士的德国人后裔，因受到宗教排挤，从18世纪起，他们陆续移民到北美。在美国，

他们主要定居在宾夕法尼亚州、俄亥俄州和印第安纳州。在加拿大，他们主要定居在安大略省。

阿米什人严格恪守宗教教义，以极端保守的生活方式闻名。
