西江月·夜行黄沙道中
Night walk on yellow sand paved road
To the tune of XiJiangYue (The moon mirrored on the west river)
词/辛弃疾(宋代)
By Xin QiJi(Song Dynasty) /Tr. By Lily
明月别枝惊鹊,清风半夜鸣蝉。
稻花香里说丰年,听取蛙声一片。
Off the tree branch the moon startles the magpies
At midnight the breeze sends over cicadas’ cries
Rice scented air tells the coming of a bumper year
In paddy field here and there croaks of frogs cheer
七八个星天外,两三点雨山前。
旧时茅店社林边,路转溪头忽见。
Scarce stars are strewn on the cloudy sky
Before the hills, scattered raindrops fly
Next to the temple and woods an inn used to be
Suddenly to it by creek a road turn leads me

The Moon over the West River
Xin Qiji
Startled by magpies leaving the branch in moonlight,
I hear cicadas shrill in the breeze at midnight.
The ricefields’ sweet smell promises a bumper year;
Listen, how frogs’ croaks please the ear!
Beyond the clouds seven or eight stars twinkle;
Before the hills two or three raindrops sprinkle.
There is an inn beside the village temple. Look!
The winding path leads to the hut beside the brook.
