美国一般私立文理学院奖助学金数额

上次我登了一篇关于耶鲁大学学费的资料，并鼓励国内学生不要因为美国大学学费高昂便怯于申请，因为如果学生本身条件优秀，许多学校都会尽量用各种奖助学金的方式减免学费，帮助学生顺利入学。不料，最近有一位网友评论说“（除了顶级学校之外）其他公立学校和排名20以外的学校，有明文规定，资助不对外国学生。”我怕这是一个没有根据并误导大家的说法，所以特别向敝校的招生办求证，以下是招生办的回信：（红色标记为我所自加。）

Thank you for your email.  Our policy in regards to financial aid are as follows.

Lawrence is very committed to assisting international students financially, but funding is limited. Students are most competitive for admission if they can demonstrate the ability to afford at least $25,000 US$ per year for their educational costs. Scholarships vary in amounts from 7,000 to 23,000 US$. 

Last year, the average scholarship for international students was approximately $19,000 US$. The average financial aid award (which includes scholarships and employment), was approximately 22,000 US$. Our total costs (including room/board and expected personal expenses), for the current year are 45,864 US$.  The costs for next year are $48,771.

简单择要说明：敝校劳伦斯大学平均资助外籍生每人每年7000美元至 22000美元不等，去年给外籍生的平均奖学金数额为19000美元，并保证校内工读机会3000美元，资助总额已接近全年花费的百分之五十。劳伦斯大学排名中等、财务状况中等，奖学金资助外籍生的数据大概可以作为美国一般文理学院的典型例子，我估计更有名的文理学院资助会多得多。
