Pokhara/博卡拉 has developed into the second largest city
of Nepal since Mr. Tonitage, a Swiss explorer, came here in 1952.
It is more tranquil and relaxing in contrast with Kathmandu so that
it has become the most popular destination of Nepal for tourists
from all over the world.
My first impression of Pokhara is clear, simple, friendly and
international. The tourism facilities are refurbished from local
houses, but the function is international
oriented.
At the beginning, tourists came here for trekking because
Kophara is close to the Himalayas, but more and more tourists are
coming for their leisure holidays just because of the beautiful
Fewa Lake/费瓦湖.
The lake is a major attraction to those who are drawn to water
sports or families who simply love absorbing the beautiful scenery.
The warm water of the lake is inviting and ideal for a trip on a
little wooden boat, which be rented along the shoreline for an hour
basis or even for an entire day.
The scenery of the lake changes according to the weather. The
Annapurna Rage and the Dhaulagiri Range on the surface of the lake.
Away from the shore, the water is clean and deep and the dense
forest along the south side of the lake is rich in
wildlife.
Tourists usually like to enjoy their meals or tea for hours
along lakeshore, where a lot of restaurants, bars and homestays
stand.
The lake also holds religious importance. The holy Barahi
temple/巴拉赫神庙 is situated on an island in the lake, which is a 2
storeyed Hindu temple. It is dedicated to Goddess Durga, who
protects the gods from demons. Durga takes in the form of a boar
called Barahi to pierce her evil enemies with her pointed
tusks.
In Pokhara, many local agencies can arrange some thrilling
adventure experence such as paragliding/滑翔伞, zipline, rafting and
so on.
After I tried the paragliding, it is really a stimulating and
unforgettable experience, which is strongly recommended.
World Peace Stupa/世界和平塔 is situated at one hill, southeast of the Fewa lake. It is the best place to overlook the lake, the city and snow mountains. Most of tourists take the boat to visit the stupa, but I asked a motorcycle driver to take me around the stupa.

One small village is seen from the stupa.
Street food, Chatpata, is popular in Pokhara, which is the instant noodle mixed with puffed rice and a lot flavouring.
