I arrived at Jakarta airport at about 10:30 pm of local time on
February 3 after 6 hours' flight from Shanghai. Fortunately, I
caught the last but shuttle to the downtown.
I asked the hostel staff to help me book the train ticket to Yogyakarta and found I had six hours left to look around the capital city, so I visited the ancient city of Kota and Lapangan Merdeka area under the recommendation given by local people.
Kota is also called Batavia, where it was the center when Holland colonized Indonesia. There are so many glorious & delicate buildings around the Fatahillah Square.
Bueatiful tropical flowers and plants can be seen commonly on the streets.
The capital has become more prosperous with the rapid development of economy.
In my opinion, I think the quality of the train facilities is similar to China's bullet trains, but the speed was so slow that I spent bout 9 hours on the train for 400 kilometers on the eve of Chinese New Year!
In fact, Jakarta was my transient destination. I stayed
overnight and went to the eastern Indonesia by train the following
day.

When I got off at the metro station of Kota, I was shocked
there were so many motorcycle taxis waiting for their passengers in
a long line. Afterward, I noticed moterchcles were very popular
everywhere, which were actually main transportation for local
people.
Kota is also called Batavia, where it was the center when Holland colonized Indonesia. There are so many glorious & delicate buildings around the Fatahillah Square.
Some must-see museums such as Museum Wayang, Museum Sejarah
Jakarta, and Balai Seni Rupa are located at the square, but they
are closed on Monday.
Many local people usually prefer to spend their relaxing time
with their families on the square.
Bueatiful tropical flowers and plants can be seen commonly on the streets.

Lapangan Merdeka area is another popular place for local
people. The Monas is the pivotal hallmark of Jakarta, which was
built under the leadership of Mr. former president Sukarno.
Gambir railway station connects most of big cities around
Indonesia. I got my train boarding card on the automatic fetching
machine conveniently.
I found many well-known western food & drink brands in the
train station.
The staff is always around passengers, so they can't miss
their trains. I was inquired which train I should take for sererval
times.
In my opinion, I think the quality of the train facilities is similar to China's bullet trains, but the speed was so slow that I spent bout 9 hours on the train for 400 kilometers on the eve of Chinese New Year!
