一、continuous  连续不断的（强调一个动作没有间断过）continuing to happen or exist without stopping or without any interruptions continual.

例如:  

1.       a continuous line一条不间断的线

2.       continuous pain/headache持续的痛/头痛

二、continual 反复的，频繁的（强调一个动作在某个时期反复出现）反复的，频繁的（强调一个动作在某个时期反复出现）describes separate actions which are repeated over a period of time

例如: 

1.       Life was a continual struggle for them. 生活对他们来说是不断的挣扎。

2.       continual knocks on the door 反复的敲门声

3.       Please don’t make continual mistakes. 请不要犯重复性的错误。

4.  These continual interruptions are driving me mad.

三、continuing 为非谓语动词作定语，含义是继续，没有反复的含义。

例如：

1.       continuing education持续教育/继续教育

2.       continuing development (sustainable development)

四、continued 为非谓语动词作定语，有反复的含义；continuing to happen for a long time, or happening many times.

1.       I thank you for your continued support and commitment. 

我谨对你们的不断支持和承诺表示感谢。

2.However all the organizations warned that major, continued efforts are needed in countries andinternationally to continue working towards the goal of access to treatment for all who need it. 

但是，所有这些组织警告，在各国和在国际上需要作出持续重大努力以继续朝着实现使所有需要的人获得治疗这一目标前进。

总的来说，其差异正逐渐消失，特别是continual亦含有continuous相同的意义;

continued和continuing可以互换，都表示“连续不断的”“继续不变的”。
