    摘要：机器翻译(Machine Translation)和翻译记忆(Translation Memory)软件两者都是近年来的翻译相关计算机科技的产物,不过两者的作用很不相同,机器翻译目的是要提供自动的翻译,用以取代工人,不过因为高质量机器翻译难以达成,近年机器翻译逐渐转用为沟通辅助软件,例如提供网页或电子邮件的粗略翻译,以帮助不同文化的人之间的沟通.翻译记忆软件则是职业翻译家的辅助工具,它的作用方式是把所有'主人'翻译过的句子都成对的记忆起来,等到下次遇见相同或雷同的原句时,它就把以前做过的译句呼叫出来,给主人斟酌修改与采用.如此,不但节省翻译的时间和精力,并且可以维持某些名词或其他用语的一贯性.机器翻译和翻译记忆这两种科技,对于翻译业界和翻译教学界都是重要不可忽视的.翻译系的学生必须知道机器翻译有什么好处和通途,以及人工翻译占有什么优势等等.学生也需要学会使用翻译记忆软件,一方面可以符合大翻译公司求才的需求,一方面对于个人翻译作品的整理和效率的提升,也很有很大帮助.由于目前存在的文献中,很少有关机器和翻译记忆软件教学的探讨.本文旨在针对此两种软件在翻译系中的教学,提出一些初步的看法.

    Title:Teaching Machine Translation and Translation Memory Systems

    Abstract:Machine translation(MT)and Translation memory(TM) system are both products of contemporary translation-related computer technology, though they work very differently.An MT system aims to offer automatic translation in place of human translators, though increasingly, it is becoming a kind of communication aid, for example, as a Web page or e-mail translator in cross-cultural communication. The TM system, on the other hand, acts as an aid to translators by memorising all translation units(TUs)completed by the translor and retrieving the memorised bilingual pairs when the translation unit is encountered a second time, thereby saving the translator`s time as well as maintaining consistency in translation.Both MT and TM technologies have high implications for the translation industry as well as for translation teaching. Trainee translators need to know what MT systems are good for, and what advantages human translators have over MT, among other things. They need to learn to use a TM system if they are thinking about joining a large translation company, or to organize and utilize their translation works more efficiently, As there is little existing literature dwelling on the teaching of MT or TM, this article aims to offer some beginning ideas about how these two kinds of translation technology should or can be taught in a translation course.

摘要：本文所探讨的主题和研究目的如下：（1）以口笔译专业为观察对象，探讨有效的管理方法，以实现效率、品质、信誉俱佳的服务；（2）提出口笔译业务的分析模式，应用于目前业务及今后新型业务的管理运营；（3）以最少时间与金钱为成本的管理方法，提出实现上述成效的工具与操作经验。本文作者在2001年2月建立了一个口笔译商业网站，为了检验管理方法的效率，本文包含了自从网站建立以来，不同的运营阶段所出现的不同问题，以及相应的修改方案。

Abstract:The research has the following objectives:(1)to observe the translation and interpretation(T&I)profession and explore effective management methods for the provision of effective,quality,and reputable services;(2)to forward a model for T&I business analysis that is applicable not only to current business operations,but also to the management of future emerging business operations;and (3)to propose methods and management tools for the attainment of the above goals using the least amount of time and money.The writer established a T&I business website in February 2001 to examine the efficiency of the management methods. This paper contains a complete discussion on the different issues that have emerged since the establishment of the website and during the different phases of operations thereafter, as well as the revisions carried out up to the present.

    Abstract:After the publication of El viaje a la semilla, biography of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, written by Dasso Saldivar in 1997, the popular fervor for Gabriel Garcia Marquez was renewed. Being a Nobel Prize winner, his autobiography, Vivir para contarlo, was sold out before coming out of the publishing company. Each day there are more pages in the internet engaged in the articles and books about Gabriel Garcia Marquez and his works. This is a sign of the international attention given to his literary works. His most representative work Cien anos de soledad not only enjoys very good reputation, but also is well-knaown in Taiwan in the Chinese language. publisher, and the other was translated by Sung Pi-yun, and published by The Vista Publishing Company. Both discuss the various problems that the translation of foreign names presents in the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude.
