Chapter 16    China

 

    Stuart was very tired. He found a big box and climbed in it. Soon, he was aleep. In his dream, Margalo was smiling at him.

    When he woke up, he saw another mouse. They were both in the big box.

    "Where am I? In a box?" asked Stuart.

    "Don't be silly," said the mouse, "We are in a luggage."

    "And... ...who are you?" asked Stuart, "I'm Stuart Little. You can call me Stuart."

    "I'm Jack!'' said Jack.

    Jack climbed on the top of the luggage and looked around. "We are in an airport. The luggage was open wide. That's strange and interesting! Come on, Stuart, Come on! We can jump out of it. Come on, quickly!"

    "We are in an airport?" Stuart turned pale with fear, "Margalo! Oh, no! I must go back."

    "Who is Margalo?" asked Jack.

    "A beatutiful bird," answered Stuart, "I must find her and bring her back home."

    "You are looking for a bird?" laughed Jack, "That's like looking for a needle in the ocean."

    "Don't let me despair, Sir." said Stuart, "Where is my little car?"

    "You have a lttle car? That's amazing. Maybe it was lost." said Jack.

    Stuart climbed on the top of the luggage, and the two little animals jumped off it. They landed on a woman's dress and grabbed the dress.

    And soon, they heard the woman scream, "Ah-ah-ah-ah——", cried the woman, "Mouse—— I am dying——"

    "Quick, escape! Quick!!!" Jack shouted to Stuart.

    They slid down the woman's dress and ran away.

    "That's terrible!' said Stuart.

    "It's always dangerous here. You must get used to living in danger." said jack, "We must get on the plane."

    "But Margalo... ..." said Stuart, hesitating.

    "I think that bird is on the plane." said Jack.

    They climbed on a man's cap. 'We'd better choose a man," said Stuart, "A man is more safe than a woman."

    "I agree with you." said Jack.

    Suddenly, the man stopped, and then sat down in an airplane's seat. The two mice climbed down and landed on the ground.

    "Where are we going?" asked Stuart.

    "I don't know yet." answered Jack.

    "Maybe... ...China... ..." A voice said, weakly.

    "Margalo!!!" Stuart yelled, "Margalo, isn't it you?"

    But Margalo was in a bird cage.

    "Poor Margalo, Jack, we must save her!" Stuart said to Jack.

    "Remember we are just two mice." said Jack.

    The woman who kept margalo was playing with her phone. When the plane took off, she turned off her phone and slept.

    "That's very good." said Jack thoughtfully.

    "Margalo!" Stuart shouted, "You'll be free soon!"

    Margalo opened one eye.

    Stuart and Jack climbed up the woman's dress and reached the cage. "Women're always dangerous," Thought Suart, "I must be careful."

    Stuart tried to unlock the cage. Jack murmured, "don't make noises!"

    "I know." Said Stuart. Sturat bit the lock. He pulled the little door of the cage.

    "Well done, Stuart!" Jack praised Stuart.

    Jack climbed to the small table which was used to put things on. "Throw Margalo to me!" called Jack.

    Stuart pushed Margalo to Jack. Margalo was too tired and weak to fly.

    "Pang!" Margalo landed on the small table. The noise was so loud that it woke up the woman.

    "Oh no!" Whispered Jack, "Stuart, take Margalo away quickly! Let me deal with the woman."

    "But... ..."

    "Quick! Don't say anything!"

    Stuart held Margalo and ran to the underneath of the woman's seat. He tensed up and felt anxious. He prayed for Jack. he heard a woman scream, "Mouse——————"

    Stuart felt cold and despair. He didn't want Jack to die. He prayed again. 

    Margalo was fainting. She must be ill.

    Soon, the woman fell into sleep again. Jack went to Stuart and Margalo. "That's all right." said Jack, "What's the matter with your bird?"

    "Oh, thanks. She's fainting." said Stuart.

    "I have some water," said Jack, "I'll give her the water."

    Jack had a little bottle of water. He got the water flow into Margalo's mouth. Soon, Margalo opened one eye.

    "Thank you very much," she said weakly, "I'm much better."

    "OK, it's time for me to introduce myself." said Jack, "My name is Jack Wilson. That's a very ordinary name but I'm not an ordinary mouse. I was born in a village. I love the golden field, the red boomcorn and the cute clear little brook! I'm a great poet!“

    "That's my narcissistic new friend." said Stuart.

    "Glad to meet you!" said Margalo, she could sit up now.

    "Nice to meet you too!" said Jack.

    "Ladies and gentlmen... ..." the studio said.

    "We arrived in China!!!" shouted Margalo. She could fly now, but she was still very dizzy. (Margalo loved China very much just like me.)

    They followed the crowd, "So hot." said Stuart. "Me too." said Jack.

    Jack climbed up a tree. "Wow!" yelled Stuart, "So strong you are!"

    "Beause I was born in a village you know!" said Jack.

    Margalo flew up to the tree, 'That's so easy!' she said.

    "I'd better escape and hide under a little rock." Stuart thought.

    "I'll help you!" said Margalo. Stuart grabbed Margalo's feet and Margalo flew up to the tree.

    "Thank you... ...oh, no!" Stuart looked down and he was afraid of the tree.

    "Don't look down," said Jack, "That's very terrible!"

    A bus arrived here and poeple got in it. "Jump!" called Jack. They jumped on the bus. "That's very terrible!" thought Stuart.

    Suddenly, Stuart said, "I want to go home!"

    "A passenger ticket's very expensive," said Jack, "I thind we can play in China for a little while and then you and Margalo can go home.'

    "Great!" said Stuart.

    "But I don't want to live with Snowbell." said Margalo.

    The bus drove away and the three little animals were very happy.

 

 







妈妈的话：

豆写了这么长，费了我好长时间打字，打字时我顺便把错别字改了下。我用Word查了下，共964字。豆分了几次写完的，但和写中文作文一样，不打草稿，直接写，想到哪里写到哪里，也不修改。今天是最后一次课，有个环节就是到前面去读自己续写的文章，豆说其他同学差不多都3、4分钟读完，她这篇读了8分钟。课程刚开始不久，庄老师就发现豆豆写作的能力较强，但说的能力不如写，还很奇怪。我知道因为一直是我俩在一起学，说的练习肯定不够。但写的练习不是不够，是根本就没练过，因为听说读写，写是最后一步啊，写的要求应该是最高的，总觉得应该到一定程度才开始。现在我也觉得奇怪了。更奇怪的是，从没想过，豆已经能写这么长的文章了。还有一个解释就是，可能这跟中文写作也有一定关系吧。在课程即将结束的评估中，庄老师说这就是天分。如果是，谢谢庄老师帮豆豆开发出来这个天分
