好消息。几天前我在博客里写到英国公司在一个中国地区级城市遇到麻烦的事。一家中国公司以查封他们厂房为威胁，要他们付款。我们联系了当地政府，由他们出面对此事进行了干预。中国公司最终同意开具全款发票，并承诺不再干扰英国公司的生产和运输。当然，我们会和这个英国公司保持联系，以保证类似事件不再发生，到目前为止，一切都很圆满。

我非常感谢北京使馆商务处的王静，她在过去几天对此事的解决提供了巨大支持。正是她打通的一通重要电话使整个事件出现了转机。正如那个英国公司的中国经理所说的那样：“言语无法表达我的感谢之情。”她配得上这样的感谢。

我同样很欣赏当地政府在此事上的快速反应，并对在这个城市继续为英国企业寻找商机充满信心。

Very good news. I wrote earlier this week about a problem faced by a British company in a regional city here. A Chinese company was holding them to ransom: blockading the plant. We spoke to the City Government who responded immediately and have intervened with the Chinese company. The Chinese company have agreed to invoice in full. They have agreed not to interfere with the British company's shipment and production. We shall of course stay in touch with the British company to make sure the agreement is honoured, but so far so good.

I am very grateful to Maggie Wang in my Beijing team for her support over the last few days. She made the vital telephone calls that swung this. She deserves the note of thanks we have received from the Chinese manager of the British plant: "it is hard to use words to express all my gratitude".

I am also impressed by the responsiveness of the City Government. It gives me confidence that we can continue to promote the opportunities in the city to British business.
