The President of the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino,
Fabrizio Bindocci, would like to demonstrate his solidarity with
Gianfranco Soldera in condemning this act that has affected
all the producers of Brunello and the entire region of Montalcino
and would also
like to express the solidarity of all the 250 member companies of
the
Consortium who feel directly affected by such a shameful episode.
"As per
tradition, the community of Montalcino businesses will not leave
this company alone
to suffer such a harsh and cowardly act, but will support it in a
way and at a
time our friend Soldera considers most appropriate. I reiterate the
solidarity
of the entire Consortium and I concur with the views expressed by
the Mayor of
Montalcino, Silvio Franceschelli, concerning this despicable and
cowardly act in
urging against reading too much into the incident or
instrumentalizing the affair
in order to respect the image that a region like Montalcino has in
the world, a
quiet place where criminality is rare and a far cry from the spirit
of honesty
that characterizes both old and new inhabitants. This act of
vandalism against
Soldera does not change this image even though it should not
be
underestimated."
