中国作家协会会员、中国诗歌协会理事、黑龙江作家协会理事。出版的主要作品有，长诗：《雁来红的故事》。诗集：《树叶与小溪》、《青青草》、《畅园小诗自选集》、《沧桑小调》、《ふたたびの春》（诗选日译本）。诗文集：《尘寰》。中篇小说：《荒野女孩》。长篇报告文学：《到海的那一边》。电影文学剧本：《勿忘我》（与鲁琪合写，由长春电影制片厂摄制）。

有些抒情小诗被译成英、德、日、罗马尼亚、南斯拉夫、朝鲜以及世界语等文字。

Liu Changyuan, poet and writer, was born in March 1932, in Zhaodong County, Heilongjiang Province.

He is a member of China Writers Association, council member of China Poetry Society, and council member of Heilongjiang Writers Association. His major published works are: long poem: The Story of Yanlaihong. Poem collections: Tree Leaves and the Brook, Green, Green Grass, Changyuan’s Poems, Self Selected, Vicissitude Ditties, Second Spring (poems translated into Japanese). Collection of poems and essays: This Mortal Life. Novelette: Girl in Wilderness. Long reportage: To the Other Side of the Sea. Film scenario: Forget-Me-Not (in collaboration with Lu Qi, and filmed by Changchun Film Studio).

Some lyrical poems of his have been translated into languages like English, German, Japanese, Romanian, Yugoslavian, Korean and Esperanto.
