辛笛，本名王辛笛，1912年生于天津，多年私塾教育，为旧体诗的研究创作打下扎实基础。1935年清华大学外语系毕业，负笈英国，与英美诗人艾略特、史本德等常相磋商交流，得益非浅。1939年归国，任上海暨南大学和光华大学教授，后在银行、工业部门工作，现任中国作家协会名誉委员、国际笔会中国上海中心理事。

数十年来辛笛吸取古今中外优秀诗歌之精华，在“九叶诗派”中以印象派等现代手法抒情写实，追求创新。他的诗作在北京、上海、香港、台湾等地都一再出版，有些被译成英法德日等文本。主要作品有《珠贝集》、《手掌集》、《夜读书记》、《辛笛诗稿》、《印象·花束》、《王辛笛抒情诗集》、《听水吟集》以及《九叶集》（与诗友合集）；主编有《20世纪中国新诗鉴赏辞典》等。

Xindi, originally Wang Xindi, was born in Tianjin in 1912. Years of home schooling laid a solid foundation for his ability to research and to write poems in the classical Chinese style. After his graduation from Qinghua University in Beijing in 1935, he went to England for further studies on the English Literature. There, he benefited from thorough discussions and frequent communications with famous poets like T. S. Eliot, Stephen Spender, etc. Back to China in 1939, he was a professor at Jinan University and Guanghua University in Shanghai and later, worked in banking and the light industrial area. He is at present an Honorary Council Member of the Chinese Writers’ Association and Council Member of the International PEN Club, China-Shanghai Center.　　　　　　　　　

With a span of several decades, Xindi has always been interested in absorbing new ideas and learning the quintessence from the masters at all times and in all countries. Applying skillfully the modern Impressionits techniques, he writes realistically and expresses his true emotions. His highly acclaimed poems were published widely and repeatedly in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and all over the world. Some have been translated in English, French, German, Japanese, etc. His principal works include: Zhu Bei Ji (Pearl-breeding Shells), Shou Zhang Ji (Palms), Notes During Night Study, Selected Poems of Xindi, Impressions-Bouquets, Xindi’s Lyris Poems, Lang Huan Ou Shi (Random Notes on Reading), Ting Shui Yin Ji (Hark to Songs of Flowing Waters); One other collection of poems—Jiu Ye Ji (Nine Leaves) — is a collaborative effort with his colleagues; Editor-in-Chief Appreciative Dictionary of 20^th Century Chinese New Poetry, etc.
