In many of the world's cities, on canals and rivers or in marinas, you can find people who have chosen to live on the water. The Wilkinsons have lived aboard their boat (在船上) for fifteen years. Much of that time they have spent sailing around the world. Here's what they had to say about living aboard.
Mary Wilkinson
People sometimes ask me if I think it's fair to the children. How could it not be fair? They live in a less polluted, safer environment. They get to travel and become comfortable with and able to deal with people of all ages and from different cultures. This makes them confident and relaxed. Children who live aboard are often better educated because instead of being taught in overcrowded classrooms they learn with their brothers and sisters and with a parent as the teacher.
Sunny Wilkinson
People around me usually don't believe we live on a boat until I show them a photo. It seems so different to the lifestyles they know. Of course living aboard has its advantages and disadvantages. It’s great living so close to nature and getting to know other cultures and languages. It's also very exciting to sail off somewhere and know that you will see new places and meet new people, but sometimes I have made new friends somewhere and then they move on or we do. Saying goodbye to people is always hard.
Jeffrey Wilkinson
I've already decided that I'm going to get a boat when I'm older and go traveling with my friends. I have had so many experiences and seen so many amazing things: dolphins, whales, fantastic tropical fish and a lot of beautiful places on land as well. My only worry is how I will get on with the kids in a normal classroom and with the school system in general. I want to go to university and I don't know how well I'll do in the final exams. Mum and Dad both say I'm ahead of other kids of my age, but I'm not sure.

B. Choose the best answer (根据短文内容,选择最恰当的答案):(7分)
I grew up in Monrovia, Liberia, and my family was pretty well-off. My stepfather worked for the United Nations, and every morning a driver took me to a private school. I enjoyed my school days and I was happy.
Then in late 1989, when I was 12, we heard news of war. Charles Taylor and his rebels (叛乱者) destroyed every village in their path. The rebels saw our big house and caught my stepfather. We sat at home waiting for him, but he never came back. My mother was on holiday in the United States with my Aree little brothers at-the time. For months, I was on my own with my older brothers, who were 15 and 16, hoping our stepfather would return. The rebels took our cars and many other things from our house. One said he would come back and take me as his wife. That's when we decided to leave.
It took us about six months to walk to the Ivory Coast, where there was a camp for the homeless. Then it took almost three years to get our immigration (移民) papers. By this point, my mother had a couple of jobs and was living in Newark, New Jersey. This wasn't the America I expected.
But I loved high school there. I got a degree in electronic communication at university and worked in fashion. I was living this great life but realized I had forgotten where I'd come from. In 2004 I started the MacDelia Cooper Foundation (基金会). We send clones and school supplies to more than 500 children at five orphanages (孤儿院) in Liberia, run a scholarship program, and have rebuilt many of the orphanages. Each year I spend Christmas at an orphanage there and have a party for all the kids. We play games and have a warm meal, and the kids each get a gift bag with toys and necessities. I was lucky to escape the civil war, and I have a responsibility to give something back.

E. Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题): ( 14分)
When I was in junior school, an eighth-grade bully (恃强欺弱者) hit me in the stomach one day. It hurt and made me angry. I planned to meet him by the bike racks the next day and let him have it.
For some reason, I told my plan to Nana, my grandmother. A big mistake! She gave me a one-hour-long speech. She said, "Good deeds bring good results, and bad deeds bring bad results." I told her that I did good things all the time, and all I got in return was bad things. She said, "Tom, you should know that every good deed will come back to you someday, and every bad thing you do will also come back to you."
It took me 30 years to understand her words. Nana was living in an old people's home. Each Tuesday, I came by and took her out to dinner.
I still remember our very last dinner together before she went into the hospital. We drove to a nearby restaurant. I ordered meat for Nana and a hamburger for myself. The food arrived and as I began to eat, I noticed that Nana wasn't eating. She was just looking at the food on her plate. Moving my plate aside, I took Nana's plate, placed it in front of me^ and cut her meat into small pieces. I then placed the plate back in front of her. As she put the meat into her mouth slowly, tears came to my eyes. Forty years ago, when I was a little boy, Nana always cut the meat on my plate into small pieces so I could eat it.
Nana was right. We get exactly what we give. Every good deed you do will someday come back to you.
What about the eighth-grade bully? He met the ninth-grade bully.
