让它飘逝，正如花儿绽放，

Forgotten as a fire that once was singing gold.

似赞美黄金的火焰燃烧。

Let it be forgotten foever and ever,

让它飘逝、永远的曾经，

Time is a kind friend, he will make us old.

时间贴心的朋友，让我们自在来往。

If anyone asks, say it was forgotten

那已忘记的，是否谁提醒

long and long go,

很久以前的印痕，

As a flower, as a fire, as a hushed footfall

如花绽放、火焰燃烧，像足音清晰 

In a long-forgotten snow.

于长长印痕的雪野飘逝。

                  巴金《家》：“这些话一字一字地送进了觉慧的耳里，非常清晰。”

                  最后一句翻译成：那足音于雪中封存，也可。小儒是如此理解的。

                  莎拉·蒂丝黛尔原文也确有此意的复合。语义的爻变、活诗如此。
