定语从句（2）

一、紧跟介词后的关系代词用法

    ★★注意点：1.紧跟介词后的关系代词只能用which和whom，不可用that!!

                2. 紧跟介词后的关系代词不可省略!!

                3. 关系代词前介词的选择取决于与定语从句的谓语动词的搭配。

                4. 固定短语中的介词不可提前至关系代词前。

                   This is the baby (who/whom/that) we are looking after. (正)

                   This is the baby after whom we are looking. (误)

二、由way作先行词的定语从句

★★way在定语从句中做状语，关系词用in which或that，也可省略。

    I didn’t like the way (that/in which) he talked to me.

    way在定语从句中做主语或宾语，按关系代词功能表处理。

    Can you tell me the way that/which can be used to solve the problem?

三、关系副词功能表

★注意：how不可用来引导定语从句！！！

四、关系副词和关系代词的用法区别

★★选用关系副词还是关系代词，主要看定语从句的主体成分是否完整！！！！

    主体成分完整——关系副词（when, where, why）

    主体成分残缺——关系代词 (that, which, who, whom, whose)

比较以下各组例句：

A: I often think of the days when I lived in Yangzhou. （主体成分完整）

  I often think of the days that/which I spent in Yangzhou. (spend缺宾语)

B: This is the school where I studied last year. （主体成分完整）

  This is the school that/which I visited last year.（visit缺宾语）

C: That’s the reason why he gave it to me.（主体成分完整）

  That’s the reason that/which he gave to me.（give缺宾语）

五、正式场合下，关系副词可以被“介词+which”所替代

when——in/on/at which     where——in/at which      why——for which

一、用关系副词合并定语从句（第四句除外）
