周公庙，距今已1380多年。庙区现存古建筑30余座，占地约7公顷，整体建筑对称布局，殿宇雄伟，亭阁玲珑。庙内现存碑与石刻众多，并有汉、唐、宋、元、明古木多株。 周公姓姬名旦，是周文王的儿子，武王的弟弟，成王的叔父。他生于岐邑，死于丰都（今西安市西），曾辅佐武王伐纣灭商，建立周朝，是周王朝的开国勋臣。武王死后，成王即位，少不更事，由周公摄政。在此期间，周公率军东征，平定了管蔡之乱，稳定了周初政局。同时，他还制订礼乐，建立朝纲制度，为巩固新兴的周王朝作出了卓越贡献。所谓“周公吐哺，天下归心”，一直为人们所乐道，周公不愧为中国古代杰出的政治家。
