黄河三峡因永靖境内黄河之上的炳灵峡、刘家峡、盐锅峡而得名。在流经永靖县境内107公里的黄河主道上，大自然奇迹般地造化出了炳灵峡、刘家峡、盐锅峡三大峡谷无比秀丽的山山水水，刘家峡、盐锅峡、八盘峡三座大坝在黄河上巍然而起，炳灵湖、太极湖、毛公湖三大人工湖泊浩荡高峡之间，更勾勒出风情万千的绚丽画卷。这就是著名的黄河三峡省级风景名胜区。
