Work and life balance is certainly a myth
for me. Juggling between a demanding job, two
kids, and a family is a huge effort. Sometimes I
wonder why I am working hard at night or over weekends to make a
career, juggling between family and work from one to-do item to
another, trying to bring the unbalanced life back to balance every
day, always feeling guilty of not giving enough attention to my
kids. Indeed I feel very tired from time to
time.
A couple of years ago, I attended the PA
women convention. One of the country's most
successful woman said "you are not your work.
The purpose of work is to become a larger
you.” I totally agree with this and I can
feel it when travelling through my own path. The
danger is that we often times forget our purpose, we say yes to
everything, and we follow the rules defined by other people without
challenging the authorities.
Women often times focus on delivery, but not
behaviors and relationships building. So we often
times are overwhelmed with the“tasks” but don't see the results we
think we deserve. It is a
process of self-discovery and it is profound.
With effort, we can have a fabulous life even with loads of
responsibilities in life. They make us bigger.
I hope to become
a role model for my daughters in this aspect.
In 2016,
1.
Sleep well and exercise to keep high energy.
Sleeping before 10pm every day, exercising and
jogging to stay healthy. I have role models
around me such as Pipi's mom.
2.
Quality family time. Spend more
peaceful, quality time with kids and family.
Cut workload and learn
to say no on things that do not have strategic
importance.
3.
Reaching the finish line in September 2016.
