haas商学院中国研究生Arthur Qi在上周末去世了，距离他3月16日毕业只有不到一个月。他是Berkeley金融工程的研究生，长江商学院的硕士，华东理工大学的本科。

Arthur Qi, a student in the Berkeley-Haas Master’s of Financial Engineering (MFE) Program, passed away suddenly over the weekend. 

Qi was about to graduate from the program on March 16. His classmates alerted the MFE Program and the authorities after Qi had missed their group lunch and hadn’t been seen all weekend. 

“He was a gentle soul, kind and extremely polite, and always smiling,” said Linda Kreitzman, executive director of the MFE program. “Our hearts go out to his family and to his girlfriend in China.” 

Qi is a Chinese national who attended Haas on an international student visa. Prior to enrolling in the MFE program, he completed his MBA at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and obtained a bachelor of economics degree from East China University of Science and Technology. He started his career with Shanghai Pudong Development Bank as an account manager and later worked in asset management at AEGON-Industrial Mutual Fund. 

He also served as academic manager at CKGSB in 2009, where he headed two departments and several extensive projects. He is the sole author of the case “BAIDU: Searching for Truth,” which is widely used by business schools in China and in the U.

UCPD reported that a male graduate student was found dead Sunday in his home at the campus-owned Manville Apartments on Southside. UCPD spokesperson Lt. Eric Tejada said the police were notified by the student’s friends who were worried when they could not reach him over the weekend.

Neither officials from UCPD nor from Haas could say whether Qi was the man found in the apartments.
