这是一首传奇的励志诗篇，长期以来人们甚至无法知道它的作者，只知道出处是于1692年建于巴尔的摩（美）的圣保罗教堂，是在一块装饰板上发现的……后来有考评说它的作者是美国哲学家诗人“迈克斯 艾尔曼”，收入该诗的诗集出版于1927年。该诗中译名有《迫切需要》《渴望》等。译者的语言也各有特色，对有些句子的理解还不尽相同。

我是这样想的，美国哲人1927年写的诗歌，真的很像我们七千年前的《易经》中的首卦“乾”，纯阳。看来人类的宇宙观必然有贯通之处，什么西方文化东方文明，看这首老外诗篇，多么与我们的励志文字神似，呀呼，这就叫雷人。

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

谨记安然也许就在那阵沉默之中。

尽最大可能在不屈尊情况下与所有人接触。

表达你的实在，平心，清晰。呈现你的聆听，哪怕

那只是一群傻瓜或者无知，因为他们同样拥有自己的故事。

避开那些张扬与好斗的人群，他们会扰乱你的心神。

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

But let not this blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
