A Price Adjustment

It was late in the fall, and Olaf stood in Coleman's Department Store admiring a nice winter coat. It was the right color and style, and it fit him very well. Unfortunately, it wasn't on sale and it cost a lot of money: $200. But Olaf needed a winter coat. And this winter coat could be gone if he waited too long to buy it.
Olaf asked the salesclerk if they did price adjustments when clothing went on sale. "Yes," said the salesclerk. "If that coat goes on sale within fourteen days, then you can get the sale price. Just bring in your receipt."
So Olaf bought the coat. And after thirteen days, Olaf returned to Coleman's Department Store and checked the price. Luckily, it was on sale for $150. Olaf gave the salesclerk his receipt. Then he filled out a short form, and the salesclerk promised he would receive a $50 check soon. Olaf was very happy.
Strangely enough, it was an unusually warm winter. Olaf didn't need to put on his new winter coat until January. Finally, one day, it was cold enough to wear it. Olaf walked into his office and noticed that Kenny, one of his co-workers, was hanging up the same coat. Olaf laughed. "You have good taste!" he said.
"Thanks," said Kenny. "I love this coat! I bought if yesterday on clearance for $89 at Coleman's Department Store."
