Loving Science, No Matter New Or Old

A netizen gave his comment after he had read my 

blogs:

 "Our TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is the 

greatest science of mankind."  This is a pertinent

comment , not too much.

Because this is confirmed by its success in serving 

countless persons in its long history.

 

I replied: You're right ! 

But some pseudo scholars may think that：

Our TCM was formed in ancient times , so it should 

be eliminated .

 

In fact , this is the logic of self deception.

And here are at least four reasons to refute this view:

1.  Our human cognitive process is a process of

     knowledge accumulation , not a strict 

    exclusive process .

Namely, the establishment of new knowledge does

not necessarily eliminate all known knowledge .

 

For example:

1.1 The discovery of real numbers does not negate all knowledge about integers;

1.2. Any new achievements in DNA research cannot 

deny the common sense that "man must eat, drink 

and sleep".

1.3. Any latest medical research achievements can 

not deny the common sense that "man has two legs ".

 

 2、 In the process of knowledge accumulation , the 

original knowledge may be too simple so that it can

be obtained easily , but this does not mean that all 

of these simple knowledge is wrong .

 

On the contrary , simple knowledge maybe has

two attributes :

2.1. Axiomatic Attributes

Namely , that is basic knowledge .

 

For example :

It has long been observed that right angles are equal .

But this simple knowledge has become the axiom of 

Euclid Geometry .

 

 2.2. Nous attribute

Namely , it is generally recognized knowledge .

 

For example :

Water is liquid at normal temperature and pressure .

But this nous will not be rejected only because of

the discovery of the molecular structure of water .

         

As matter of fact , our TCM is just such knowledge !

 

Our TCM contains a large number of ancestors ' 

cognition of the human body , which may seem 

simple and easy to be found .

 

But in fact , many of these cognition of our TCM

belong to the axiom system or  nous system of 

medical knowledge or medical science .

 

The attribute of medical axiom and nous of our TCM

also makes some pseudo scholars  hate it very much .

And  these  pseudo scholars  use person's psychology

of liking the new instead of  the old to mislead persons 

and make them sick of our TCM .

 

Their behavior is really cunning and shameless !

If the knowledge we learn is too old , it must be 

wrong ?

Then why not look at their own profession with this

attitude ?

 

If so , how many kinds of knowledge can form a more

complete system ?

 

3、As long as it is relevant to life , the best is always 

the original ecology , not the newer the better .

 

For example , artificial limbs are really high-tech 

products .

However , as long as they are not forced to do so ,

few persons will voluntarily request the installation

of artificial limbs .

 

Because most people are convinced that  :

If it is related to life , it is better to be original .

 

Medical science is nothing more than this : 

TCM is our original ecological medical science .

As long as  our TCM is really effective , cheap and

convenient , there is no reason to criticize it at all !

4.  Compared with thousands of years ago , the 

human body has not changed much , let alone

subversive changes .

 

Therefore , as long as the treatment methods 

used by our ancestors are effective , it is no 

harm to continue to use them .

     

For example , yesterday I cured my own severe 

vomiting with an ancient method : 

Using radish slices to cook soup , adding some 

salt , and then drinking two bowls of the soup .

In fact , the value of knowledge lies in its effectiveness ,

which does not necessarily disappear over time , nor 

will it become invalid because of the repugnance of

some guys .

Therefore , it is not difficult to find :

 

1、 Some guys use people's psychology of "liking 

the new instead of the old" to disgust our TCM , 

which is really cunning and shameless .

 

2、 If you really love science , you needn't love the 

new instead of the old .

In a nutshell , when we study science , we should 

not only learn advanced theories , but also learn

knowledge from classics , from objective facts , 

and from customers , such as patients  . 

And only in this way , can we not be fooled by 

poor rhetoric .
