博主的话：今天晚自习整理课题资料时，发现了学生高二时的辩论材料。当时，我校正在抓学生课堂使用手机的问题。我便组织本班学生用英语对手机利弊进行辩论。我要求学生自由分组，正方与反方。当时可为难了正方，他们认为，他们处于劣势，因为，学校观点明确，校园不准带手机。但是我鼓励他们，我们辩论主要是训练英语口语，英语思维，只要分析得体，把握到位，抓住特点，劣势也能反败为胜的。于是，正反两方学生，利用课余时间查阅资料，小组讨论，写成文字。下面的文字均出于我的两个班的学生们。我在这里且不探讨其观点是否正确，语言是否地道，就学生的热情参与、积极探讨这一点来看，我已经感到满意和欣慰。现把辩论内容贴出来与大家分享。

Teenagers should not be allowed to use cell phones .

青少年不应该使用手机

（Feng Chenxi from Class 20）:

    According to what I know , though a cell phone is convenient, it has a bad influence on teenagers in many ways.First of all, the cell phone is so controversial for us to control. We can’t control ourselves both in time management and who to use. Teenagers may be addicted to the cell phone especially between lovers. Besides, although the cell phone has many advantages ,there are a lot of unhealthy information which is not appropriate to them. In addition, the radiation from the cell phone is harmful to our growth. All in all, I think teenagers should not be allowed to use cell phones .

(Gong Dafu from Class 20):

    I think teenagers shouldn’t be allowed to use cellphones.There are several reasons .First, some teenagers may use cellphones to communicate with others by sending messages,which can not only disturb their study ,but also influence their sleep.There are also some students who may use cellphones to surf on line and may get some unhealthy information.Besides,cellphones sometimes are used to cheat in the exams.Most importantly,the radiation of cellphones can do harm to the teenagers.

(Xie Jiatian from Class 20)：

     According to what I know,there are many students who spend 1.29 hours to use  cellphones per day on average.Nearly half of them use them to chat with their friends,while 20.8% to send messages,16.7% to do research on the internet and 12.5% to play games on line.So I think students should not bring cellphones into class which might take up their most energy.

 (Xie Hui hui from Class 20)：

    According to the research of the cellphones used by teenagers, the majority of whom use  cellphones to chat with their classmates and friends.Just 15.4% use it to communicate with their parents.57% have some experience playing with cellphone in class.Some of them use cellphone to read electric novels till midnight,which makes them very sleepy in class.And worst of all, students always want to show off  whether their cellphone are brand or not,which makes those poor students feel uncomfortable .In addition, using cellphones too much may cause illness,such as deaf,blind and so on.So I think teenagers should not use telephone.

(Lai Junbin from Class 17):

    I think it’s bad for the students to have a cellphone.Some students ask their parents to buy more advanced and expensive cellphones in order to enjoy more functions in them,such as playing games,sending messages,surfing the internet.What’s worse,some of them are even addicted to playing games in class or during the whole night,which does great harm to their health.

(Lu Jincheng from Class 17):

    Nowadays ,cellphones are popular among the teenagers for they provide more convenience in communication.However,today I’d like to talk about the disadvantages of using the cellphone.On the one hand,what makes me worried most is that teenagers are more likely to be addicted to the games,which does great harm to the health .On the other hand,as time goes by ,some teenagers can’t concentrate on their study because they put most of time on the cellphone.In addition,some of the cellphones show plenty of unhealthy information that have a terrible influence on their future life.

(Yang Chen from Class 17):

    Some students insist that they should use cellphones,because it’s convenient to them,but I hold different opinions. Firstly, many students are absorbed in the games where they spend day and night and thus,they often sleep in class.Besides ,some students scan lots of unhealthy information on the internet anytime, and they spend a lot of time sending messages,which is a waste of time .So I think it’s not only harmful to our study but also to our health.

(Liu Xin from Class 17):

    This question is very controversial.As for me,I have a positive attitude that teenagers should be allowed to use cellphone.First,we are high school students, we can have the ability to distinguish which is right and which is wrong.There are a lot of English articles in the cellphone,which helps us learn English.

   Nowadays,cellphones have varieties of amusable functions,such as listening to music,taking photos and surfing the internet.On the one hand,teenagers are easily addicted to the entertainment,on the other hand, there are a lot of carcinogens inside the cellphone,which does great harm to the health.
