whip 的意思是 抽打,煽动,拍击,做名词时,意思是 鞭子

 

有一个关于whip的美国俚语,就是whipping boy~来,猜猜是啥意思?

王子就在旁边,看着另外一个男孩受罚,被鞭打~

whipping boy 这个短语源于十六世纪的英国,当时在宫廷里专门设一名whipping boy, 当小王子任性行为不检点,不得不处罚他的时候,这个whipping boy就得代替王子挨鞭打~

唉,真可怜~

随着英国皇室日渐开明,whipping boy 早已不存在了,但是这个短语却留在英语中,现在它用来比喻 替罪羊 或者 受气包 的意思
