那体慧的《心经》英译本

按照徐文堪先生《<心经>与<西游记>》一文中的提示,我在网上找到了那体慧的《心经:一部中国的伪经?》(The Heart Sutra: A Chinese Apocryphal Text? by Jan Nattier,THE JOURNAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BUDDHIST STUDIES,Volume 15,1992,Number 2)。

The bodhisattva Noble Avalokitesvara, practicing [his] practice in the profound Perfection of Wisdom, looked down. [And] he regarded the five skandhas as empty.

Here, Sariputra, form is empty; emptiness itself is form. Form is not distinct from emptiness;emptiness is not distinct from form. And the samegoes for sensation, concept, conditioning force and consciousness. Here, Sariputra, all dharmas have the mark of emptiness. They are non-originated, non-extinct, non-defiled, non-pure, non-decreasing, non-increasing.Therefore, Sariputra, in emptiness there is no form, no sensation, no concept, no conditioning forces, no consciousness; no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body [or] mind; no form, sound, scent, taste, touchobject [or] mind-object; no eye-realm and so on up to no realm of mindconsciousness; no ignorance, no destruction of ignorance and so on up to no oldage-and-death and no destruction of old-age-anddeath. There is no suffering, arising [of suffering],extinction [of suffering], or path; no knowledge and no attainment.

Therefore, Sariputra, because there is no attainment the bodhisattva dwells in reliance on the Perfection of Wisdom, without mental obstruction. Because there is no mental obstruction he is unafraid, has passed beyond error, and [his] destination is nirvana. All the Buddhas of the three times have awakened to unexcelled perfect enlightenment by relying on the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore the great mantra of the Perfection of Wisdom is to be known: the great spell mantra, the supreme mantra, the mantra which is equal to the unequalled, the mantra which appeases all suffering. Because it is true, not false, the mantra is spoken in the Perfection of Wisdom.

It goes as follows: gate gateparagate parasamgate bodhi svaha.
