http://wings.avkids.com/Book/Myth/Images/zues_temple.gifZeus is the king of the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus. He is the son of Coronus and Rhea. He is their youngest son. He overthrew the Titans and Coronus to gain his rank and save his brothers and sisters. His brothers and sisters are Hades, Poseidon, Hestia, Demeter, and Hera. He is married to Hera but he doesn’t always have children with her as he occasionally had children with nymphs and mortals. He is part of the 12 Olympians of Mount Olympus. His symbols are an oak tree, the thunderbolt, and eagle. He had once saved his brothers and sisters as well as ended Titan rule.

Coronus and Rhea have 6 children but Coronus was afraid one of them might overthrow him someday like he overthrew his father, Uranus. So he had a solution, which was that he would consume his children so they would never be able to overthrow him.

This horrified Rhea so she saved Zeus and hid him where he would be safe guarded by warriors who bashed their shields together to hide Zeus’ cries. When he grew older Metis helped him disgorge his brothers and sisters who still grew and lived, as they were immortal.

After that Zeus had freed the Hectonchires, Gigantes, and the Cyclopses.  The Cyclopses helped Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades to overthrow their father by forging a thunderbolt, a trident, and the Helm of Darkness.

The gods, goddesses, Gigantes, Hecatonchires,  and Cyclopses all rebelled against the Titans causing the war Titanomachy. The Titans lost and were punished in Tartarus where the Hecatonchires guard them and Atlas was punished by having to hold up the sky for eternity.

The impact that this caused was the end of Titan rule, the near end of the Golden Age, the near end for the first men, but it was also the near beginning or the Silver Age as well. The impacts were good and bad but they were good impacts in the end like the start of the Silver Age which led to a new age of mankind and the god and goddesses had created women as well.

Interactions he had with the Titans were anger because they supported Coronus the Titan leader who consumed his brothers and sisters once. He felt grateful to Metis who helped save his brother and sisters, Rhea for saving him from Coronus in childhood, the Cyclopses for forging weapons, the Gigantes for fighting on his side, and the Hecatonchores for guarding the Titan in Tartarus. He probably felt grateful as well to his brothers and sisters who helped him fight against the Titans.

Zeus had many different events after that. Like when he battled Typhon, saving  the women he loved from jealous Hera, protecting his other children from Hera, and fighting off Echidna. He can be cruel but also righteous at the same time. He punished Hera for trying to drown Hercules that proves he punishes gods and goddesses too. He turned Pandareus into a statue for trying to thief a dog that protected Zeus. Zeus punished thoese who deserve it no matter what rank or who they is which is one of the many reasons he is a wise ruler.
