    杜牧（803－约852），字牧之，唐代晚期的著名诗人。人们把他和杜甫并提，称他为“小杜”，称杜甫为“老杜”。“小杜”有才华，有抱负，写诗喜欢评今论古，抒发军事、政治见解。他有不少描写山水风光的小诗，名朗秀丽，清新自然，深受读者喜爱。

    ①清明――我国传统的扫墓节日，在阳历四月五日前后。

　　②欲断魂――形容愁苦极深，好像神魂要与身体分开一样。

　　③借部――请问。

　　清明节的时候，诗人不能够回家扫墓，却孤零零一个人在异乡路上奔波，心里已经不是滋味；况且，天也不作美，阴沉着脸，将牛毛细雨纷纷洒落下来，眼前迷蒙蒙的，春衫湿漉漉的。诗人啊，简直要断魂了！找个洒店避避雨，暖暖身，消消心头的愁苦吧，可酒店在哪儿呢？

　　诗人想着，便向路旁的牧童打听。骑在牛背上的小牧童用手向远处一指――哦，在那天满杏花的村庄，一面酒店的幌子高高挑起，正在招揽行人呢！

　　这首小诗，用优美生动的语言，描绘了一幅活灵尖现的雨中问路图。小牧童的热情指引，自然会叫诗人道谢连声；杏花村里那酒店的幌子，更在诗人心头唤起许多暖意！

　　Du Mu (803－about 852)　was a renowned poet of the late Tang Dynasty. He had poetic talents and high aspirations. In his verses, he liked to commend on ancient and current affairs, expressing his own views about war and politics. Many of his landscape poems with freshness and natural flavours have won deep appreciation of readers.

　　This short poem depicts his encounter during the Qingming Festival, a traditional Chinese festival during which people mourn their deceased relatives.

　　During the Qingming Festival, the poet was unable to return home to mourn the deceased relatives, and instead was travelling alone in an unfamiliar rural area. He was feeling rather lone some. Worst still, the rain began drizzling and the traveller got wet. Much disturbed by the loneliness and rain, he wanted very much to find a wine shop where he would have a shelter against the rain and dispel his worries in a warm place. But where could he find one? Then he asked a little cowboy on the road side for help. The little boy immediately pointed at a distant place. Oh, the poet saw a fluttering flag of a wine shop in a village with lots of apricot-blossoms. Readers may well imagine how grateful and cheerful the poet was.
