　　这首绝句描写西北地区游牧分赴儿在旷野射猎的场面。

　“当”的一声，一枝响箭离弦而上，直入百丈云天，在静谧无风的晴空里，那长长的呼啸声显得格外清脆。听到这响　箭，骑在马上的分赴儿们顿时勒紧笼头，屏（bing）住呼吸，几百双绿色的眼睛齐向云端凝望――只消眨眨眼的时间，就会有一只老鹰或大雕从空中跌下来。到那会儿，大家才来得及认出弯弓射箭的伙伴，对那位眼光锐利、技艺超人的射手表示赞扬的祝贺。可以想见，在这塞外原野上必将掀起一个狂热欢呼的高潮… …

    但是，诗人没有去写狂欢的高潮，甚至没有写到猎获物中箭而落的情景，只描写了射中目标以前的瞬间空中响箭的飞鸣和地上分赴儿们的勒马凝望，用的是绘画中“不到顶点”的手法。这样写具有动感，留有余地，能启发读者作丰富的想象。

    Liu kai (947－1000) was a writer in the early Northern Song Dynasty. He was strongly against the showy and superfluous style and an ardent advocator of the proses written by Han Yu and Liu Zhongyuan. Only a few of his poems have survived, and this poem is the best known.

    In this short oem, Liu described a hunting scene of nomadic men in northwest China. An arrow was whizzing up to the sky, and the whistling of the arrow was loud and crisp against the wind less blue sky. Suddenly hundreds of hunters halted their horses. Holding their breath, they all looked up to the clouds in great expectation.

    Readers may well imagine that a hit hawk or vulture may fall from the sky at arry moment, then hunters would warmly congratu late the crack archer and a jubilant celebration would be erupting on the grassland.

    However, the poet did not go that far and stopped at “holding their breath, they all looked up to the clouds in great expectation”. He did this deliberately so as to leave some room for readers to imagine what the result would be and how jubilant the celebration might become.
