Jacquesson Dizy 1er Cru ‘Le Clos’ 2002 Extra Brut Champagne (750ml)

* 100% Pinot Meunier planted in 1973 @ a walled vineyard right next to the Domaine of Jacquesson in 1er Cru Dizy;

* Total 946 bottles produced;

* Disgorged on Nov 28, 2012 and dosed @ 3.5g/l residual sugar

Tasted in early Oct, 2014. 

This pure Meunier single-vineyard bubbly from the home village of Dizy is Jacquesson’s latest addition to its lieu-dits series.

Oily with wild flowers, lees & mild spice, velvety with burnished ripeness. Vinous & voluptuous. Very persistent with beautifully ripe acidity.

This is one of the most regal wines that I’ve ever encountered from Jacquesson. But, to be honest, it’s less expressive than expected. I guess if I had caught it just released last year, it would have been bursting with fireworks.
