大年三十的，干嘛还忙着写博客？ 这是因为今岁除夕，对我而言，比较特殊。

   在这虎尾数日中，我一边心怀忐忑，等待着又一个本命年的来临，一边做着件虽辛苦但欣慰的事儿：应沙龙香槟（Champagne Salon）中国大陆代理朋友之邀，我帮忙审核校对了沙龙、德乐梦香槟官网的中文译稿。作为沙龙香槟（Champagne Salon）目前在中国为数不多的铁杆粉丝之一，我能为其“中国面子”尽点力，即是义不容辞，也算当仁不让。

   翻译公司的初稿，因对葡萄酒理解有限，而存在不少技术性误解，这在所难免。在审译过程中，我的体会主要有两点：一是翻译要传原文神韵，真不容易；二是翻译切忌“闭门造车”！吃不准的地方一定要想方设法去查清。

   沙龙、德乐梦香槟官网的中文页面正在制作当中，不久就会与大家见面。在这里，我先贴一段介绍97年份沙龙香槟的中译稿，因为其中一句给我留下了深刻印象。

冬春两季，天气时而严寒，时而温和。

6月11日，梅尼尔（Le Mesnil）的葡萄藤开始绽放芳华。

夏季酷热又干燥，非常有利于葡萄成熟。9月22日，收获开始：白天采收时，天气仍酷热似暑；而夜晚却极为凉爽，使葡萄保有优良的酸度。

1997年份沙龙香槟：丝之魅。

酒色浅金闪耀、晶莹剔透，气泡精致优雅、活泼欢快。

香气丰富而灵动，精致无比，引人入胜：淡雅的白花、洋槐，山楂香气衬托出经典的矿物风味；一股咸香更凸显了迷人的面包干、奶油糕点气息及微妙的青苹果、榛仁香。

口感纯净、和谐、含蓄至极。入口丰盈，那气泡，温柔触碰恰似浓情蜜吻，轻盈跃动如同欢快舞步。其魅力含蓄优雅，宛如佳期黎明时戴起盖头的新娘。 

风格精致，气质优雅，生机勃勃――这丰富内涵，值得细心鉴赏。

1997年份沙龙香槟：众多元素或互补似矛盾，竟能完美融合一体，实难简言蔽之。这丝般质感、持久活力与天赋的深邃力度，都化为一种轻柔：恰似女性的温柔与性感，魅力无限。

   这倒数第三段中“佳期黎明时戴起盖头的新娘”，原文是a silk veil at dawn。起先我不解其意，而翻译公司的稿子译作“透过薄丝面纱眺望黎明”，我直觉不能置信，想来想去，总觉得这可能是个典故，又一时间想不出查证的方法，心里始终有个疙瘩。后来，忽然间想到何妨用网络搜索一下a silk veil at dawn呢？一搜之下，颇有感触：搜到的是一篇介绍中国古代传统婚俗的英文资料：http://zhidao.baidu.com/question/17799025.html

原来，a silk veil at dawn指的是中国古代传统婚礼那天黎明，新娘在沐浴更衣后，戴起红色的丝绸盖头......当时我感到:网络的力量真是强大;沙龙香槟官网文字原作者的水平确实了得:用此典故来形容沙龙香槟,真是exotic!

   查清了这一典故,我着实松了一口气,也算不辜负原作者一番奇思妙想了。

Champagne Salon 1997

Throughout winter and spring the climate alternated between mild weather and extreme cold.

On June 11^th, flowering began in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

Summer was hot and dry, making for excellent ripening conditions. The harvest commenced on September 22^nd; during picking the weather was summery but with cold evening temperatures, which encouraged good acidity.

Salon 1997: A sensuality of silk.

The wine is pearlescent. A pale, lustrous gold with a fine, lively mousse.

The nose is complex yet ethereal. Wonderfully refined, it is intriguing and enticing. Its minerality complemented by hints of white flowers, acacia and hawthorn. A salty note enhances aromas of bread crust, brioche and the merest hint of green apple and hazelnut.

The palate is quintessentially pure, the very epitomy of balance and restraint. Exuberant on attack the mousse becomes more of a caress whilst bubbles dance playfully on the palate; its delicate allure emulating the sensuous grace of a silk veil at dawn.

Mastery character, elegance and bright vitality – Complex indeed.

Salon 1997: It is difficult to encapsulate where so many complementary and contradictory elements come together in such harmony. The finesse of silk, persistence, innate depth and power are allied to a lightness of touch – feminine and seductive, voluptuousness without bounds.
