Deutz Rose 2002 Brut Champagne, 750ml bottle

Blend: 100% Pinot Noir (80% from the Montagne de Reims, and 20% from the Marne Valley);

91% still white base wine, with addition of 9% still red base wine from two hillside plots

“La Côte” and “Meurtet” in Grand Cru Ay.

Served in Riedel Chablis glass @ around 9 DEG.C upon uncorking

Pale salmon pink with copper hue. Gentle effervescence.

Very seductive nose with well integrated notes of ripe orange, raspberry and evolved vinous character.

Satisfying palate: Medium body with deep flavours of ripe raspberry and wild cherry. Plenty of serious vinosity. All packed in silky and caressing texture with impressive length.

The only regret was the lack of remaining acidity and the wine lost balance when warmed up in the glass. Drink now - do not cellar! And served well chilled 8-9 DEG.C.

*An earlier tasting on Nov 2007: Quite noticeable dosage but the fruit is rich and promising. Not yet well integrated.
