        One a hot summer day in late August, I sought shade and a cool drink at a waterfront café on a Greek island. Over a hundred degrees in   36  air. Crowded. Tempers（脾气）of both the tourists and waiters had   37   to meet the situation, making it a rather quarrelsome environment.

        完型填空主要考查考生在语境中灵活运用语言知识的能力。该题型综合性很强，它要求考生必须聚精会神地阅读全文，尽可能地利用短文中的信息词、信息句去寻找线索，推断意思，弄清句与句之间、段落与段落之间的联系，理解整篇文章。在语篇理解的基础上，找出各个空被挖出的那个词，确定答案。遵循正确的解题要领，才能事半功倍。

        一、通读全文。通读要速读，要一气呵成。这样便于掌握文章的线索、结构，在脑子里形成整体概念，为下一步答题做好铺垫。这一步忌边读边做。因为忙于答题，急于一步到位，无法形成连贯的思路，往往欲速不达。

        二、遵循语境，兼顾语法和词法，先易后难，边读边填。近几年高考完型填空题，语境逻辑型选项已经占了举足轻重的位置，不少试题提供的四个选项从语法角度分析都是正确的，但只有一个选项符合语境，这无疑增加了试题的难度。

        先把几个较明确的答案填上，既增加了信心，又使文章眉目露得更清楚，便于集中精力解决难度较大的题。

        做题过程不能见树不见林，要依据关键句的信息，由一个词或几个词过渡到一个意群或一个句子或整段文字，根据语法知识、词语搭配、常识和逻辑等推敲答案项。

        三、复读全文，检验答案。这遍通读，进一步加深语篇理解，便于检测所选答案能否使全文流畅，情节合理，前后一致。凡遇不通之处，必有问题，应从全文角度斟酌，以确保每题所选的都是“最佳答案”。

        2006年高考英语试题（全国卷）“完型填空” 是一篇生活故事。短文以简明的笔触描绘了一个海边露天酒吧发生的一幕，情节突兀而幽默：闷热的夏日，凝滞的空气，顾客和侍者都心情烦躁。在这样的环境，人的脾气往往一触即发。酒吧坐满顾客，就在这时，邻座一对打扮入时的夫妇，突然站起身，把他们的桌凳搬到海水里接受服务!他们出格的行为，引起周围一片骚动。

        酒吧服务员出来了。按文章开头渲染的气氛，他们会爆发争吵吗？

        没有。他们很好地化解了一触即发的局面。人们的相互理解和善意推开了热浪，在炎炎的夏天中午给沉闷的小酒吧吹进了一股清凉的风。

        文章结尾处点明主题：Sometimes one should consider crossing the line of convention（常规）and enjoy life to the fullest.
　　文章长度为235词，选项以实词为主，动词和名词13题，占一半以上；完形填空突出单句语境、段落语境、上下文语境、全篇语境，明显淡化语法知识考点。答题时，要求考生注重语境因素，选择恰当的用词。总体上，今年完形填空难度较去年有所增加，其原因是学生的文化背景知识障碍。很多学生对西方人享受生活的方式和态度陌生，因此，学生无法准确理解文章大意和人物心理，细节选词就没有很大把握。

36. C。描绘了一个特定的环境：天气闷热，气压低，空气象凝滞了一样。still, 形容词，意思是“静止的，

     不动的”。

37. D。在这样沉闷的环境，人的脾气也容易改变，好上火。rise, 升上来。

38. C。well-dressed的意思在文章最后提到，即“in one’s best summer clothes.”这对夫妇的盛装打扮与他

     们的不顾一切地到水中痛快，形成强烈对比，更增加了故事的幽  默感和吸引力。

39. B。waiting for service 意思是“等着上菜（酒、饭等）

40. A。先搬桌子，后搬櫈子，排除C。这里提到metal table，这正是为文者的聪明之处。如果不是金属制作

     的桌椅，（如木制的）放在水里会漂起来，与常识不符；再者，木制家具遇水会损坏，这种恶作剧主人

     要生气的。

41. B。off，介词，意思是“从……离开“。

49. C。这是再一次（第二次）下水。

53. C。针对上文事实发表议论。这里两个“why not?”，用疑问语气表达了强烈的肯定意义，鲜明地显示了

     作者的观点，很自然地引出下面的结论。

54. D。按语法，consider后接动词-ing形式，四个选项都通； 但按语境，有crossing符合文意。

55. A。enjoy life to the fullest. 意思是“最充分地享受生活”。这个观点符合情节。
