三. 本节课知识点讲解:
1. Chinese students have more weeks off in the summertime than
British
students. 中国学生的暑假时间要比英国学生的长。
(1). 此句中的off作副词,意为:不干…;休息,歇班,放假等。要表示休息多少天是,数词至于off之前。
eg: I have got 3 days off next week. 下星期我有3天假。
(2). off做副词还可表示:不供应;关掉。
eg: The water is off. 水停了。
The TV is off. 电视以关。
(3). off还含有“离开,距离”的意思。要表示离开多远的距离时,将数词和距离的单位词放在off之前。
eg: The town is still 5 miles off. 那小城在5英里之外。
2. She won’t be able to play basketball for 3 months.
她三个月不能打排球。
be able to和can的辨析:
(1). 两者表示现在的能力时,可以互换。
eg: She can speak 3 foreign languages. = She is able to speak 3
foreign languages.
(2). 但是be able to表示将来能做某事时,一般不用can代替。
eg: I shall be able to attend the meeting tomorrow.
我明天可以来参加会议。
(3). 当be able
to用于一般过去时,表示过去在某一场合成功的完成了某一件具体事的能力,含有“设法,成功地”等意思,不能用can或could替换。但是如果某事经过努力没有成功,则可用“couldn’t”替换。
eg: In the end, they were able to rescue the child from drowning.
最后他们终于救出了那个快要淹死的孩子。
比较:
They tried their best, but were not able to rescue the child from
drowning. =
They tried their best, but couldn’t rescue the child from
drowning.
3. Mr. Wu is going to be on TV tonight. 吴老师今晚要上电视。
sb. in on TV表示:某人出现在电视镜头中。
eg: I watched the film on TV. 我曾经在电视上看过那部影片。
