Gap.com on Sunday experienced web site problems that left consumers unable to access the apparel retailer’s e-commerce site for at least two hours, according to web site monitoring firm AlertBot.

Starting at 3:20 p.m. Eastern time on Halloween, the Gap.com site started to report an intermittent HTTP Time-out error. “That means that the entire page failed to load within 30 seconds,” an AlertBot spokesman says.

About an hour later, the problem worsened when the Gap.com site began to report HTTP 503 errors. “That means that Gap's servers were unable to handle the HTTP request from customers accessing the web site due to temporary overloading or server maintenance,” the spokesman says. “The problem was resolved at 6:37 PM with the web site experiencing problems for over three hours and being totally inaccessible for over two hours.”

Earlier this month, Gap’s e-commerce sites crashed after pages started loading slowly for consumers.
