WINNERS of the Singapore Youth Award
(SYA), the nation's highest accolade for young
people, were unveiled yesterday at the *scape Youth Centre.
新加坡青年奖得主，国家青年最高荣耀，昨天在青年景观中心揭幕。
In all, six individuals bagged the award in five categories, which honour Singapore citizens or
PRs below 35 who have achieved distinction in their fields of endeavour and provided
excellent service to the community.
总共，6个人得到五大类奖项，新加坡公民的荣耀或者35岁以下由于努力在他们各自领域都有卓乐
成就，并为着社会提供最优良服务的人。
This year, the limelight is on pop star JJ Lin, 27, and artist and film-maker Ho Tzu Nyen, 32, in
the Arts and Culture category.
今年，在舞台最受欢迎流行歌手林俊杰27岁，及艺术家兼电影制片Ho Tzu Nyen32岁，在艺术及
文化类别。
Ms Lina Chong, 30, Assistant Manager for Student Development at Nanyang Polytechnic, won in
the Community and Youth Services category.
Lina Chong小姐30岁，在Nanyang专科学校学生发展中心副经理，赢得公共和青年服务类奖项。
Mr Clinton Ang, 35, the managing director of wine company Hock Tong Bee Pte Ltd, was
honoured in the Entrepreneurship category.
Clinton Ang先生35岁，在Hock Tong Bee Pte有限公司担任总经理 ，在企业精神类别得到荣耀。
Dr Tong Joo Chuan, 31, principal investigator of the Institute for Infocomm Research, excelled
in the Science and Technology category, while national sailor Koh Seng Leong, 25, turned out
tops in the Sports and Adventure category.
Tong Joo Chuan博士31岁，Infocomm学术研究主要调查人员擅长科学技术类别，当国家水手
Koh Seng Leong25岁，在运动及冒险类有不错结果。
Previous winners include Nominated MP Eunice Olsen, Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah and
national swimmer Joscelin Yeo.
早先优胜者包括被提名MP Eunice Olsen，新加坡偶像Taufik Batisah 及国家游泳选手Joscelin
Yeo。
The chairman of the SYA panel that picked the winners, Mr Edward Alec D'Silva, said the
winners' intense commitment to both their jobs and the community gave them an edge over
other candidates.
在评选优胜者的SYA评审团主席Edward Alec D'Silva先生说，得奖者给他们工作及社会比其它候
选人更优越强烈承诺。
"The winners are at the peak of their game," he said.
Artiste and music producer Lin, who was absent yesterday because of a concert in China, is a
big hit in China and Taiwan. He is also an active contributor to charitable organisations like the
Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Children's Cancer Foundation.
他说“胜利者在他们游戏中最高点 ，”艺术家及音乐制作人林昨天缺席是因为在中国有演唱会
，对中国及台湾是很大撞击。他也是一位在慈善机构活跃贡献者像是许愿基金会及儿童癌症基金
会。
Others, like Ms Chong, credited their achieve- ments to the help provided by their families,
mentors, and fellow volunteers.
其它像Chong小姐，记载他们成就提供帮助他们家庭导师和其它志愿者。
When Ms Chong was hospitalised last year for a "major illness", fellow grassroots leaders
stepped up to fill the gap.
当Chong小姐去年因重大疾病住院，基层领导同事赶紧填补空缺。
"That made me realise that it was the team players around me, not me, who kept my passion for
community work going," she said.
她说“这让我意识到它是围绕在我身边团队成员，不是我，谁持续我的热情为社会继续工
作。”
All six will receive their honours from Senior Minister
所有六位将会从高级部长收到他们的荣誉
