The One Who Should Be Cared For

Do you know, Hinata, that somebody is always standing behind you, watching you, silently praying for you? But perhaps you won’t know, because you don’t turn back, and you can’t see.

I just want to tell you, that although you are the one who always cares for others, in reality, you are the one who should be cared for.

They had been team members for a long time.

And always, he had watched her.

The pale eyes, the shy smile, the bashful posture.

The determined eyes, the set smile. the resolute posture.

He had thought of her as a weakling, but as time passed, he found in her a new strength.

And a warmness.

He remembered the times when he was injured, and it was Hinata who always appeared in front of him with ointment to ease his pain. Even under circumstances when her own well-being was endangered.

Such a sweet, caring girl.

He watched her back when she was training, sometimes, with painful effort. And it made him feel pain.

The way she gritted her teeth, blood dripping from her fingers.

She looked fragile, but in her heart there was a strength.

He admired that.

It had always been common knowledge that Hinata liked Naruto---a lot. Only that Naruto himself was the single git who didn’t seem to realize the fact.

And when Kiba looked at her, shuddering and stuttering in Naruto’s presence, he felt pity. And a faint trace of anger.

Or perhaps a deep sorrow.

Naruto did not see. He did not recognize what he stood to gain, if he turned around.

He did not see the subtle gentleness in Hinata’s expression_r, did not see the emotions she secured for him as she blushed.

Even though Hinata was the one who cared the most for him.

The girl who cared only for others, for her companions.

Kiba hated to see her getting hurt by Naruto’s indifference to her feelings.

Do you know, Hinata, that somebody is always standing behind you, watching you, silently praying for you? But perhaps you won’t know, because you don’t turn around, and you can’t see.

I just want to tell you, that although you are the one who always cares for others, in reality, you are the one who should be cared for.

How I hope, that I can be the one person to do that for you.
